Wendy's is leaning into fall comfort food with a mix of returning fan favorites and brand-new menu additions hitting restaurants nationwide.
The star of the season is the Pretzel Bacon Pub Cheeseburger, which fans voted to bring back earlier this year. It returns loaded with Beer Cheese Sauce, Applewood-smoked Bacon, Smoky Honey Mustard, Crispy Onions, and Muenster Cheese on a soft pretzel bun.
Joining it are two new additions: a Pretzel Bacon Pub Chicken Sandwich and Pub Fries topped with beer cheese and bacon crumbles.
On the sweeter side, the Apple Crumble Frosty Fusion blends spiced apple syrup and oat crumble into a Vanilla Frosty — a cozy alternative for anyone ready to move past pumpkin spice season. |

Rio Brazilian Grill in Lancaster: A Latin Bistro with Brazilian Steakhouse Energy
Rio Brazilian Grill, also listed as Rio Brazilian Grill / Rio Latin Bistro, brings a different kind of dining option to Lancaster Blvd. Located at 628 W Lancaster Boulevard, Rio blends Brazilian steakhouse-style dining with broader Latin American flavors, offering everything from churrasco-style meats to Colombian and Peruvian-inspired dishes.
This is not a small, one-note menu. Rio describes itself as an “incredible mix of Latin American cuisine,” with Brazilian all-you-can-eat churrasco, Colombian dishes, Peruvian plates, and more. It is positioned as a casual dining spot that works for date night, family dinner, and even a business meal when you want something more memorable than the usual chain restaurant.
Customer favorites listed online include Entraña Plate, Picanha Plate, Cuban empanadas, pão de queijo, Cuban sandwich, Brazilian lemonade, fried plantains, arroz con pollo, lomo saltado, and picada Colombiana. Several reviews point to the meats, sides, chimichurri, and attentive service as strong parts of the experience.
Rio has a strong local review profile, with Restaurantji showing a 4.4 rating from more than 250 ratings, plus high marks for food, service, and atmosphere. The restaurant is also listed on OpenTable as a Brazilian steakhouse / Latin American / all-you-can-eat buffet concept with a price range of $31 to $50.
The biggest thing to know before going is that Rio is not trying to be only a traditional Brazilian steakhouse. It is more of a Latin bistro with Brazilian grill influence. That is not a negative, but expectations matter. If you walk in expecting a large-format Fogo de Chão-style churrascaria, you may judge it differently than someone looking for a locally owned Lancaster restaurant with Latin variety, grilled meats, cocktails, and a date-night feel.
Local Bites Take:
Best for: Date night, Latin American dishes, grilled meats, cocktails, family dinners, and trying something different on Lancaster Blvd.

LuLu’s Tamales & Champurrado |

Some food trucks are worth finding. LuLu’s Tamales & Champurrado is one of them.
For this week’s featured food truck, AV Local Bites Review is spotlighting LuLu’s because when people talk about these tamales, they are not just saying they are good — they are saying they are worth the drive, worth the wait, and worth getting there early before they sell out.
LuLu’s keeps the menu focused on what they do best: tamales. Options include green chicken, green pork, red pork, red beef, jalapeño and cheese, chicharrón, mole, plus sweet tamales like strawberry and pineapple on weekends. They also offer rice, beans, menudo on weekends, sweet bread, sodas, aguas frescas, coffee, avena, and of course, champurrado.
And that champurrado deserves a mention. It has the warm, comforting flavor you want, but without being overly thick or heavy. It pairs perfectly with a couple of tamales, especially on a cool morning or when you are picking up food for the family.
What makes LuLu’s stand out is the balance. The tamales are not just masa-heavy. They are known for being big, moist, flavorful, and filled well. That matters. A good tamale should have enough masa to hold everything together, but the filling should still be the star. LuLu’s gets that right.
The favorites? The red pork, green chicken, jalapeño and cheese, and chicharrón seem to get a lot of love. The chicharrón has a little kick, so keep that in mind.
Local Bites Take: Believe the hype. LuLu’s Tamales is the kind of food truck people line up for before it even opens, and there is a reason they sell out. For bigger orders, call ahead if possible — waiting until the last minute may leave you empty-handed.
Best for: Breakfast, lunch, family orders, office food runs, weekend comfort food, and anyone serious about good tamales.
What to try: Red pork tamales, green chicken tamales, jalapeño and cheese tamales, chicharrón tamales, and champurrado. |
